Hard Material!!

Today at Tech I got a lot more work done than I expected. After I finished measuring the pieces of wood I needed I moved on. It was time to start some real work.

I have never done wood work before so I was scared to start, but I wanted to finish quick so I can see my mirror. Mr Grundy checked my work and gave me a hack saw to cut the wood. I have never cut wood I was afraid I might not cut it straight. After I cut my first piece of wood I felt relived because my hands we getting tired.

I cant wait to finish my work.

Tech!!

At tech we started smoothing our  deign with sand paper so it can be soft. I decided to help Sione, Joanlisi and Agueer with there game because they had a lot to do. I exported my tinker card design to the teacher so she can make it 3d. When she is done I will soon start painting them in different colours.

I will need to make my dice and a few things three d before we move clases. I hope I can finish early.

Tech!!

Today at tech Mrs Ferguson started to create our games with the 3d print. Before we start making it 3d we had to visualize how we wanted to create it ad try make it come to life. 

I found out that if we wanted to make it 3d we had to put each set of shapes on another design. Mine is going to take a long time because I have 16 small pieces and big board.

 I hope I finish by the end of this term.

Glass Cracks On the Sky Towers Building

Apparently the Glass deck at the sky tower where people walk on to get a good point of view was unexpectedly cracked.

There are three platforms layers of glass. The one at the top has been cracked. The glass will be fixed so none is allowed to visit the area.

I hope they get this fixed as soon as possible so people can observe our land

Tech!

At tech we arrived late so we didn't have time  to finish of our slide. We designed our board game with Plasticine. In the beginning the Plasticine was very hard and cold but it took a while to make it soft. I decided to make a dice its was very fun to play with Plasticine.

Tamaki Estuary!

On Monday the Auckland Zoo members organised a trip for us at tamaki Estuary. Some people split into groups and some went  partners. We walked around the area picking up trash. I was shocked of how much plastic I found lying around.

I was happy to collect rubbish and throw it into the bin so nothing can harm the sea animals and the environment is clean.

I would love to pick up rubbish in my own time to save the animals.

Tech

On Wednesday we had tech. The students received a large piece of paper from Miss Ferguson. First we folded the paper to make four squares. On each square we had to come up with good ideas of how we can adjust games to make it unique.

On my first paper I decided to do chess because it is a hard game to create but I think it would look good at the end. I switched the chess pieces to super heroes because I find super heroes cool.

I hope I finish  game my chess as soon as possible.

Rippa Rugby!!

Last week was our last session with Corey for Rippa Rugby.  It was devastating to finish our Rippa Rugby sessions  because I have learnt a lot in past few weeks and it was so much fun.

Rippa rugby was fun because I was able to interact with other students by using comms (communication). It was a fun activity to participate in!

I hope to play Rippa Rugby again.

New Zealand Teachers Go on Strike!!

New Zealand teachers are going on strike tomorrow. Not only primary teachers, but secondary teachers too. This is the biggest strike the teachers in New Zealand have ever had.

Teachers are going on strike for money, but besides that they are worried that in ten years time teachers will retire and there will not be enough teachers. I think this is important because without teachers there will be no one to teach the children about education.

I hope there will be more teachers in the future to support students' education.

Chocolate Muffin

Step 1 - 1 1/2 c of SRF (Sun Rising Flour) , 1/4 of cocoa
2- 1/2 c of sugar
3- 1/2 c of milk
4- 1/2 c of oil
5- 1 egg
6- Mix well and drop 1 tbs of mixture into the muffin tray.

This week was our last week with Miss Tuipoltu for cooking class. I was sad because I love cooking and eating. For our last week we baked chocolate. I enjoyed the taste of it.

Football

On Wednesday some of the year 7 and 8 girls, 5 and 6  boys were chosen to compete at  Point England reserve for the soccer inter schools tournament. Before we arrived at our destination, my emotions were going wild, but I was nervous and excited at the same time.

As soon as we arrived the boys immediately started there first game. Being on the sideline the girls were cheering for them. The year 7 and 8 girls had a draw in 3 games and lost 2 other games. When we were on our last game my feet and my legs felt painful so I couldn't walk properly.

It was a great opportunity for me to participate in the soccer game.  

Kiwi Can

On Tuesday we had the opportunity to experience how kids can help us make the right decisions while playing games and to build a trustworthy friendship.

We had a couple of rules to go over before we could start the session. The rules were to respect others, don't be shy and give it try, and best of all have fun. The activities we played were bang, change spots and GKQ - general knowledge questions

For our lesson we had to discuss what integrity was. Our topic was to be honest while you're playing games with other students.

New Elephant At Auckland Zoo

There has been a new animal that has recently joined Auckland Zoo. Anjalee the elephant has joined Auckland zoo after kashin another elephant passed away. The staff at Auckland Zoo has been waiting for a Anjalee to arrive so they can help her and give her company.

Anjalee was brought up in a orphanage home in Sri Lanka. Zoo keepers want to make sure Anjalee felt welcomed and safe at their Zoo.

Special Guest!!

On Thursday Sam Verlinden  came to our school to talk about how he became a singer. He explained to us that if we read books we would be able to create new ideas and become anything we dreamed.

First we played a clapping game. Through break 1 to 4 he formed beats  that  we had to follow.  After the game he presented a video of his singing. Everyone was shocked at how amazing it was. I enjoyed listening to his story and song.

Sweet And Sour Pork

step 1 - Slice the onion into ling strips

- transfer it onto a pan and fry

2- Get a big chunk of pork the slice it into strips

3- Get a carrot peel it the cut it into a oval shape.

4-Slice the coli flower  and pepper

5- sauce - flower pepper chili and salt

6- serve with rice.

Room 12

On Monday Room 12 hosted the syndicate assembly. It was exciting to experience the year sevens doing assembly for the first time.

 The songs they played were very appropriate songs and had good meanings behind them. First game we played was pictionary. Two students from each class volunteered to participate in this game. I really enjoyed the year seven's assembly. 

Safe Passwords

If you have technology we all know you need a password to make you feel secure. When someone hacks you it feels awful because you have used a common password that was easy to guess such as your name, birthdate,  month etc. This makes it easier for someone to unlock your password.

There are hackers everywhere. They don't usually hack apps and websites.
To form a solid password you need to add numbers, special characters and something personal.

Christmas Cross Over

On Monday we started Christmas Crossover. Christmas Crossover is when you have a group of kids from  different classes and then you have to create something that has to do with Christmas. My group and  I went to room five and we drew pictures of Santa. I am very excited to do this again.

We Didn't Cook Today!

Sadly we had to have a different teacher called Mrs Kalu, because Mrs Tuipuluto was sick today. 

Instead of cooking  we had a booklet that had different things inside it, the main topic was about food. My favourite thing in the booklet was the word find.

I was sad we didn't have cooking but happy we did something.

Manaiakalani

On Wednesday my school and I went to Sylvia Park to watch different movies by other schools.

 Before we went to watch the movies we had a rule, which was to be quiet while watching a movie. When we first walked inside the cinema it was really dark and noisy. I was very excited when the first movie started.

My favourite movie was when the Point England students did carpool karaoke because they had different characters that matched their song. 

It was very sad to see it end though, because there were lots of good movies and I wanted to see more.
